The victim of a gruesome attack in Massachusetts is trying to turn her suffering into something good.Janet Blanchard, of Haverhill, was left blind and almost died from a random attack in her hometown last year.NewsCenter 5's Maria Stephanos lived next door to Blanchard when they were growing up in Groveland, and Stephanos shared Blanchard's story following the attack.Blanchard is now focused on spending time with her family and friends, especially her 14-month-old grandson, Lincoln.She is still searching for a cure for her blindness and working to help others who suffer from complete vision loss.On Sept. 2, the Bradford Country Club in Haverhill will host the Janet's Journey Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for the Second Chance for Sight Foundation a nonprofit that was founded in Blanchard's honor by her son-in-law, Zach.The money raised by the golf tournament will help assist complete-vision-loss organizations, medical research and individuals.
