From California - A new protocol published in the New England Journal of Medicine may free up kidney transplant patients from long term immune-supressing medication. Stanford researchers conduced over 30 years of mouse research to finally discover the right mix of stem cells and radiation treatment that could help two immune systems coexist. 8 of 12 patients following this new protocol have been off immunosuppressant medication for at least one year, with no known damage their kidneys.
